III. Committee Reports

        Highway Patrol

Major Jody Hughes reported that the merger of the Water Patrol into the Highway Patrol continues as they try to improve communication between field officers and headquarters.  Tim reported that Brostock is looking at hosting their annual Wakeboarding Tournament event June 15 and 16, 2012 at Captain Ron’s—they are currently waiting for approval from the Highway Patrol.  Tim said that they are very well organized and would be a real plus to the Lake economy.  If handled correctly, the Lake of the Ozarks could become the site for their annual championship.

        Marketing/Education

Tim reported that Trish Creach is asking the committee to meet to develop goals for the coming year and to report back at the January meeting.  Linda Vogel said that she and Trish are planning to meet shortly.

Grants/Fundraising

Tim reported that Trish Creach is asking the committee to meet to develop goals for the coming year and to report back at the January meeting.  Tim said that he will meet with Trish to set goals.

The committee discussed the concept raised by Jim Bascue at the last meeting—raffling off a PWC.  The committee discussed opportunities to display the PWC at boat shows, Water Safety Council events, trade shows etc.  Tim said that someone would need to take the lead on this or nothing will happen.

Tim reported that the Council has just over $22 in the bank account.  There has been some concern about the Council’s non-profit status and he is following up on it.

Tim reported that he does not have time with his schedule to spend a lot of time in exploring grants.  Volunteers are needed in this area.

IV. Other Business

Mike Kenagy reported that the Lake West Chamber will be hosting the in-water boat parade on March 17, 2012.  He also said that space is available for the Water Safety Council and/or PWC raffle at their Business Expo on March 3, 2012 at the Christian Academy.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary will be conducting an 8 week Safe Boating Class from 7 to 9 PM at the Camden County Library in Camdenton starting January 31, 2012.  Cost is $30 per person [with a discount for additional people if they share the book].
